Blue-Footed Booby Bird Descends Upon Southern California In Record Numbers To Celebrate Announcement Of New Dreamworks Animation Project
GLENDALE, Calif., Sept. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Record numbers of blue-footed boobies are arriving on the shores of California for the first time in nearly 50 years, confusing scientists and thrilling both birdwatchers and filmmakers at DreamWorks Animation. While scientists are speculating on the exact cause of this phenomenon citing everything from atmospheric pressure to supplies of forage fish, the creative experts at DreamWorks Animation have their own theory: the boobies have descended upon Hollywood to celebrate the announcement of their very own movie.

"This is the first invasion of boobies since the numbers of birders have swelled," ornithology expert Kimball Garrett said in a recent Los Angeles Times story. "So, there's a lot of happy bird-watchers seeing them for the first time."
DreamWorks' untitled original comedy is about a dim-witted blue-footed booby who learns that it isn't the size of your brain, but the size of your heart that counts. Directed by Karey Kirkpatrick (Over the Hedge, Chicken Run), who will co-write with partner Chris Poche, the project is being overseen at the studio by DreamWorks Animation's Alex Schwartz and Damon Ross.
"I'm excited to be back at the helm for DreamWorks Animation which has been my home base for the last fifteen years," said Karey Kirkpatrick. "This is especially meaningful because I have the opportunity to work on a project about boobies, which as you can imagine, is a dream come true."
