Actress Erin Gray Helms Funding Campaign as Co-Producer of Texas-Set Feature Film 'One Hand Clapping'

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Way To Go Media, the independent production company behind the award-winning feature Dreams Awake, is launching an innovative campaign to finance its next film, One Hand Clapping: its own crowd-sourced funding site, LaunchOurFilm.com. Supporters will receive opportunities to participate creatively in this tale of life, death and rebirth, filming in 2014 in Texas. Incentives range from prerelease copies and all-day set visits to credit thank-yous, premiere tickets, private screenings and profit-sharing.

Producer/director/screenwriter Jerry Alden Deal and co-producer Erin Gray, who received two Best Actress awards for Dreams Awake (winner of 17 awards altogether), have posted a mini-documentary about the emerging transformational-storytelling genre and why they're inviting film fans to participate.

"We want you to go on the journey with us, to be part of the filmmaking process," says San Antonio native Deal, a University of Texas graduate. "All you have to do is bring your inner child with you and play with us."

The LaunchOurFilm.com site allows principals, including Austin-based executive producer Eric Williams, to interact directly with stakeholders and avoid service fees.

Gray, known for the TV series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and Silver Spoons, says she's intrigued by the themes Way To Go Media explores because they reflect her own quest to understand the human condition.

"Reincarnation, other dimensions, transformational consciousness-raising, bringing awareness to our lives; these topics are what fascinate me," Gray says.

A One Hand Clapping trailer, filmed in central Texas with an all-local cast and crew, follows the Zen riddle, "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" with the tagline, "Three brothers, two deaths, one rebirth ... reincarnation in a small Texas town."

Deal explains, "One hand clapping, in reference to this film, means, is there more of an intuitive, spiritual answer to our existence than just ... we're born, we live life and we die and that's it?"
