September 21 and 22 at City Hall and Tranquility Park in Downtown Houston

HOUSTON, Aug. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Producers of the celebrated PRC Festival give birth this year to a second day of music and culture called Carnaval Americas--modeled after Calle 8 Festival in Miami. More than 40,000 music lovers are expected to gather in downtown Houston for the seventh Puerto Rican & Cuban Festival and first Carnaval Americas. The gatherings will celebrate the musical, cultural and culinary heritage of Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic, as well as all Latin American countries in Carnaval Americas. PRC Fest and Carnaval Americas will take place on September 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Tranquility Park & Hermann Square in downtown Houston, tickets start at $15 for a one day event.

The most recognizable names in salsa, reggeaton, cubaton and bachata; Willie Colon, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Rey Ruiz, Osmani Garcia and K Rose will provide hours of the best tropical music sure to please the most demanding music fans attending the PRC Fest. Headliners will take song requests and comments via twitter @PRCFest, or on the Festival's Facebook page. Additionally, the 12-hour Festival each day will feature 200 local artists and musicians, 400 professional dancers, eight DJs, bands and dance groups including: Havana NRG, Salmerun, Grupo Kache, Los Hermanos Araujo, among others.

Willie Colon, a Fania All-Stars musician and salsa legend will be recognized for his legacy as the Festival's Grand Marshal, a recognition bestowed for the first time in the history of the PRC Festival.

In addition to the music and dance acts, Cuban, Dominican and Puerto Rican restaurants will offer Caribbean delicacies. Exhibits and stands with souvenirs and arts and crafts are available. A portion of the PRC Festival proceeds will be donated to NHPO (National Hispanic Professional Organization) offering Hispanic professionals with career opportunities, professional development and leadership training.
