Andrew Breitbart Biodoc Opens At #3; Digital Sales Strong As Movie Opens Across Multiple Platforms

"Hating Breitbart" Outsells New Documentaries from Ken Burns, Rihanna and Rolling Stones

LOS ANGELES, May 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Pixel and Verse Films issued the following:

HATING BREITBART, a film that explores the life and impact of the late media guru Andrew Breitbart, opened on 15 screens across the U.S. posting strong numbers in key markets like Honolulu, New York City and San Diego, but the biggest story of the weekend was its bow on Amazon.com's new documentary chart as the #3 new documentary in the nation. The film actually took up two slots on the chart, as the R-rated version came in at #12. It is currently ranked #7 of all DVD documentaries on the Amazon charts. The film also opened strong on the iTunes documentary chart, debuting at #6 just ahead of "A History of The Eagles."

"We are thrilled to have a national theatrical release and are pleased with the numbers, especially in Honolulu and New York City," said the film's director Andrew Marcus. "But we're especially thrilled with such strong numbers online both at DVD and VOD. Andrew lived in the world of online media and we knew that was going to be our area of greatest strength. To open at #3 is a thrill."

The film chronicles Breitbart, the man, through some of his biggest media battles as he exposed the corporate media's unwillingness to cover certain stories. The film's director and camera crew were allowed exclusive access to follow Breitbart during the final two years of his life; filming wrapped shortly before his sudden and unexpected death. The provocateur who ignited the Acorn scandal and brought down a Congressman-Anthony Weiner - Hating Breitbart catches it all.

"We wanted to capture Andrew as he was: loud, passionate and occasionally profane when he saw hypocrisy in the mainstream media," noted Marcus. "But we also wanted to make sure that all Americans can see what a fascinating man he was and why his messages of media corruption and the rising tide of citizen journalism are even more important today than when he passed away."

"Hating Breitbart" was released in the U.S. by Freestyle Releasing. For more information please visit www.hatingbreitbart.com.
