WDIV-TV Local 4 Wants Vocalists To Audition For Fireworks Super Singer Contest

Online Auditions Now Through May 22

DETROIT, May 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Anyone who dreams of performing in front of an audience of hundreds of thousands won't want to miss the online auditions for Local 4's Super Singer contest.

WDIV-TV Local 4's Super Singer is a vocal competition for those who are seven years of age and older. Five semi-finalists will perform at the Official VIP Rooftop Party hosted by The Parade Company. The performances will be broadcast on Local 4 as Detroit celebrates the city's biggest night of the summer, The Ford Fireworks presented by Target.

Now through 11:59 P.M. on May 22, potential contestants can upload their two minute performances on ClickOnDetroit.com. The top singers will be invited to audition in the second round, where performers will sing in front of a panel of judges. The semi-final and final rounds will play out live on Local 4 during The Ford Fireworks on June 24.

"There is so much talent here in the Detroit area and we want to give great singers the opportunity to share their gift with the huge viewing audience of the Fireworks," said Jamie Kaye Walters, Local 4's Director of Creative Services and Programming. "We want to give those talented musicians a place to showcase their voices and get an amazing performance experience." The popularity of shows like "The Voice" and comments from viewers encouraged the station to bring back the popular singing contest after a four year absence.

Local 4's broadcast of The Ford Fireworks will be hosted by Carmen Harlan and Devin Scillian. Chuck Gaidica will host the Super Singer contest throughout the program.
