THE LINE-UP
KNIFE PARTY
"From the ashes of one of dance music's biggest ever bands, Knife Party have swiftly
risen to become the most exciting new DJ/production duo on the planet."
"A fresh, madly energised, club-slaying sound."
Thomas H Green Mixmag
Knife Party are an electro-house and dubstep duo from Australia, founded by two of the
members of electro-rock band Pendulum - Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen. The duo started in
2011 so have a short history to date, but they played their first Knife Party performance
at Ibiza's Space club in August of that year. Pioneers of a new club sound, Knife Party
combine electro-house, dubstep, trance and much much more.
With storming season in Ibiza under their belts and support from Radio 1's Annie Mac,
Knife Party began taking over the club scene and their meteoric success only continues to
get bigger. They dropped their lethal first EP, '100% No Modern Talking' in December 2011
and the follow-up, 2012 's 'Rage Valley' EP made with Swedish House Mafia, only continued
to send their profile sky-high, propelling them up the UK charts.
With massive remixes of Labrinth and Nero achieving international success, they are on
the verge of much bigger things, working with the likes of Skrillex and Steve Aoki. They
have already smashed America with their own Haunted House package, selling-out 8000
capacity events night after night.
NICKY ROMERO
The word wunderkind was pretty much invented for the likes of Nicky Romero. He started
2012 as one of MTV's EDM Artists To Watch in 2012 and did not disappoint. Nicky played
some of the biggest festivals in the world including Ultra, EDC, Winter Music Conference
and Tomorrowland. 2012 was a year emblematic of a world's top-tier DJ.
Aside from 'Wild One Two', the anthemic collaboration with David Guetta, Nicky
released countless other dance floor juggernauts such as 'Toulouse', 'Generation 303',
'Se7en' and 'Sparks'. It has been a fast ascension to stardom for the young DJ. 2012 was
most definitely his year with things only set to get even better. A top 20 position in the
DJ Mag Top 100 followed remixes with Madonna, and collaborations with Calvin Harris, Fedde
Le Grand and Nervo. With his recent single, 'I Could Be The One', in which he worked with
Swedish DJ heavyweight Avicii, reaching the top of the UK Top 40, 2013 has already got off
to a bang for this young Dutch DJ.
As a multifaceted musician, Romero's daring productions have taken him into the studio
with the likes of the worlds most sought after electronic and hip-hop acts, which include
David Guetta, Sydney Samson, Kelly Rowland, Eva Simmons and Usher.
STEVE AOKI
Steve Aoki, arguably one of the world's busiest and most well respected DJ and
producers, also found time to found his own label in 1996, Dim Mak Records. Since then, he
has launched the careers of many other hugely successful acts such as Bloc Party, Battles,
The Kills, The Gossip, Klaxons, and the Mystery Jets, just to name a few.
Since founding the label, he has stepped into the limelight himself as a DJ, artist
and producer, remixing the likes of Michael Jackson and Drake. Aoki reached #15 in the 'DJ
Magazines Top 100' 2012 and has collaborated with Afrojack, Laidback Luke, Armand Van
Helden, Sidney Samson, Tiesto and more. Some of his top hits include 'I'm In The House',
'Turbulence', and 'No Beef'. Aoki's latest solo album, 'Wonderland' was released January
2012 and featured guest vocalists and musicians, including LMFAO, Kid Cudi, Travis Barker,
Will.I.am, Wynter Gordon, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Lil Jon, Chiddy Bang, Lovefoxxx of CSS,
and others. Through relentless touring he gained huge support internationally. Performing
250 shows a year on average, he has recently started touring with production via bus
tours, such as the Spring 2012 Deadmeat Tour, in which he headlined over 55 cities over 60
dates across the USA and Canada.
From humble beginnings to a world-conquering global club brand, Gatecrasher has
continued to push boundaries and dominate dance music since 1993. Its reputation as a
flamboyant, individual and hedonistic brand continues to grow and the Gatecrasher name
remains emblazoned in the hearts and souls of clubbers throughout the world.
The Gatecrasher lion has always sat proudly at the forefront of clubland, responsible
for some of the most awe-inspiring, never-to-be-forgotten events. "2000GC" Millennium Eve
event at the Don Valley Stadium, road-blocked events at Birmingham's NEC Area and the
sell-out Summer Sound System festival are immortalised in club-history. Continuing in its
passionate quest to break musical and production boundaries, Gatecrasher prepares to
ignite clubland yet again with its 20th Birthday plans.
The full plans for Gatecrasher's 20/20 celebrations will be announced in due course.
