FilmColony Acquires 'Girl of the Moment' from Novelist Lizabeth Zindel

LOS ANGELES, March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - FilmColony has just completed a deal
to adapt Lizabeth Zindel's novel Girl of the Moment into a half-hour comedy television series. Development Executive Melanie
Donkers is producing with FilmColony President Richard N. Gladstein (Finding Neverland, Pulp Fiction), a two-time Oscar nominee. Zindel will write for the show.

The show will be based on the book, but has changed the main character,
Lily Miles, from a high school senior to a college freshman at
NYU. When Lily's dad gets fired and needs help paying for her college
tuition, Lily lands a part-time job working for Sabrina Snow, the
infamous daughter of a rich and powerful New York politician.

"It's a classic fish-out-of-water story with escapism and wish
fulfillment," Donkers said. "Fame is incredibly important in our
culture right now and we wanted to explore that with satire, humor and
heart."

"Sabrina Snow is like American royalty and Lily gets thrown into a world
that most people only dream about," says Zindel, who signed a
three-book deal with Viking. "All the characters in the show are united
by one thing. It doesn't matter how old they are or how much money they
have -- they are each on a quest to figure out who they are at this
moment in their lives."

Donkers is a producer who worked alongside two-time Academy Award winner
Ron Howard and Golden Globe nominee Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe). She also produced the short, Sparks, which was the directorial debut for Golden Globe winner Joseph
Gordon-Levitt and starred Golden Globe nominee Eric Stoltz and Carla
Gugino.

Producer Richard Gladstein said, "There was a survey done by Syracuse
University that found 43.4 percent of girls wanted to work for a
celebrity. They chose this option three times more often than U.S.
Senator and four times more than chief executive of a major company."

FilmColony and Zindel are entering the pitching phase to find the
project a perfect home.
