Video: Film Biz Recycling and Warner Bros.' material donation program ENCORE! donate Gossip Girl wardrobe to local NYC charities

NEW YORK, Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Film Biz Recycling (FBR), a not-for-profit organization that diverts film and television set materials to local charities, recently re-distributed wardrobe items from the New York production of Warner Bros.' hit show Gossip Girl to three charities in the New York area as part of its ongoing mission.

Warner Bros. has been contributing to the communities where it works and films since 1995 through its material donation program "Encore!" Through this program, valuable, lightly used goods are donated to local schools and nonprofit partners for reuse.

Film Biz Recycling transported the wardrobe items to Career Gear, Bottomless Closet and Goodwill Industries, all renowned organizations that operate public and private centers offering employment, job training and other community-based programs for those facing challenges to finding employment.

Eva Radke, Founder and President of Film Biz Recycling explains, "We take in donations left over from the entertainment industry in New York City, and we turn them into opportunity... We live for redistribution. Giving things away is the number-one favorite thing that we do here. We see what kind of impact it has, and it's huge."

Production and editing of the video was provided by Canal Creatures Productions (CCP), the only sustainable production services company in New York.

Canal Creatures is currently housed in the Film Biz Recycling reuse center after losing their production space to damage from Hurricane Sandy.

CCP was founded on a partnership between Executive Producer Steven Holtzman (the award-winning "Forged" and numerous TV and web commercials) and Production Manager/ Accountant Kevin Howard CCP takes their name from Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal, the heavily polluted waterway that was declared a National Superfund Site in 2010.
