Renowned Tenor Anthony Kearns Salutes President Kennedy on the 95th Anniversary of His Birth

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif., May 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Anthony Kearns, Ireland's foremost tenor and founding member of The Irish Tenors, commemorates the 95th anniversary of the birth of President John F. Kennedy on May 29th with the release of videos of selected songs and photos from his recent performance at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Kearns hails from Ireland's County Wexford, as did President Kennedy's great-grandparents.

Kearns remarked, "I was honored to sing at the John F. Kennedy Library to celebrate the Kennedy family's Irish heritage. President Kennedy had only to go back two generations to find his Irish foundation. He was a beacon of light for the Irish, we have always considered him one of our own and hold him in high regard."

Recognizing President Kennedy's heritage and his global impact, Kearns sang beloved Irish songs, as well as classical favorites in French, Italian, and Spanish. Videos for release are a stirring rendition of The Boys of Wexford that Kearns dedicated to the President, and a beautiful Red is the Rose dedicated to President Kennedy's mother, Rose Kennedy. Also being released are South of the Border (Irish composer Jimmy Kennedy) and Granada (Mexican composer Agustin Lara), reminding us of President Kennedy's commitment to "republics south of our border...in a new alliance for progress."

The standing room-only-concert was a collaboration between the Library and the University of Massachusetts Boston, with their highly regarded Irish Studies Department. The University is also a partner in the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate being built on its campus.

The Library concert was the culmination of Kearns' U.S. Spring tour, which took him to the Mid-West, South and New England. Three of the concerts were benefits, part of the two-year collaboration between Kearns and the U.S. nonprofit Wexford Institute to provide online resources for educators and parents of children with autism in English and Spanish. These are now available free to anyone around the globe at: www.wexford.org. Wexford Institute also played a significant role in facilitating the concert at the Library.

Kearns is known around the world through his PBS specials, The Irish Tenors tours, his solo concerts, appearances and benefit concerts for good causes, and stunning opera roles.
