Qwiki Revolutionizes Online Publishing: First Qwiki "Channel" Created By ABC News

ABC News Digital - part of the #1 online news network - is the first media organization to use new format from NYC-based startup

NEW YORK, May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Qwiki, a New York-based technology company pioneering a new media format, today launched its publishing platform. Using Qwiki, any media organization, publisher, blogger or personality can easily create short, interactive stories and bring everyday content to life.

As a premier media partner, ABC News is the first media organization to use Qwiki's easy format to create video news content which will be featured on the ABC News channel. At launch, ABC News debuted its embedded Qwikis on various pages within its website (abcnews.com), and on Qwiki at Qwiki.com/abcnews. ABC News "Nightline" anchors Bill Weir and Cynthia McFadden joined others across the network to create some of the first original news Qwikis. ABC News Qwikis will focus on politics, technology, entertainment and travel (view sample here: http://www.qwiki.com/abcnews?q=Iy9qa4).

Other early users of Qwiki include StyleCaster, the leading social media channel for fashion, beauty and lifestyle (with a channel hosted by style expert Lindsey Calla), popular blogger Shea Marie and beauty expert Jeannine Morris. Today, Qwiki continues a private testing phase with its early users. A wide release is coming soon.

"Never before have content creators been able to so easily combine the interactivity of the web with the impact and quality of video," says Doug Imbruce, the Founder and CEO of Qwiki. "As more and more content creators begin to leverage this unique format, we believe Qwiki's rich experience can become part of the fabric of the web."

Qwiki allows any user to easily combine images, videos, maps, real-time tweets, and spoken narration into a beautiful, interactive story. The resulting Qwiki offers a highly appealing method to engage any audience. Each Qwiki is embedded on destination sites and can be distributed across the web. All content is also featured as a "Qwiki Channel" on Qwiki.com via a continual, interactive playlist.

Previously, Qwiki created a popular iPad application (named among the year's best by Apple) and web site that automatically transformed millions of reference topics into narrated, interactive presentations.

"Our vision for Qwiki has always been to make consuming information online a more personal and human experience - it is incredibly exciting to use our platform to extend this opportunity to content creators worldwide," said Qwiki CEO Doug Imbruce.
