OAKLAND, Calif., May 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Pandora (NYSE: P), the leading internet radio service, today announced that Triton Digital will measure its audience size and reach nationally and in local markets with the new Triton Webcast Metrics Local solution, a market-specific version of Triton's national Webcast Metrics audience measurement platform. The March 2012 Triton Internet Audio Top 20 Ranker, measured by the MRC-accredited Webcast Metrics, reveals that Pandora has more than a 71 percent share of internet radio listening among the top 20 stations and networks in the U.S. For the first time, Triton now translates this audience data into traditional radio metrics such as Average Quarter Hour (AQH) and cumulative audience (cume) at both the national and local level.
The national results for March 2012 show that among adults 18-49 Pandora has a weekly cume of 23,874,175, which is equivalent to a cume rating of 17.8 and, when compared to radio networks in Arbitron's March 2012 RADAR 112 report, makes Pandora the largest adult 18-49 radio network in the U.S.
The first Triton Webcast Metrics Local report for March 2012 showcases Pandora's significant presence in the top local radio markets, based on listener data from 3/1/2012 through 3/28/2012 for key radio-buying demographics, including adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.
Pandora Chief Revenue Officer John Trimble said, "The new Triton reports are a great step forward for the radio industry and satisfy the growing demand for an apples-to-apples, third-party measurement solution for terrestrial and internet radio. These findings confirm our leadership nationally and offer local audience details that have never been available before. It is now apparent that Pandora has successfully become the largest radio network in the country."
"Agencies and marketers have been clamoring for an accurate, consistent view of the audio landscape," said Mike Agovino, Co-Founder and COO of Triton Digital. "With Webcast Metrics we have provided just that, without relying on estimates, panels or extrapolations. Our solution measures every listener and provides an exact count, expressed in familiar terms. These new metrics give agencies a sound basis for decision making for more effective cross-media planning."
