The James M. Cox Foundation Announces $100,000 Gift to Habitat for Humanity International

ATLANTA, March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Enterprises announced today a $100,000 gift to Habitat for Humanity International from The James M. Cox Foundation. The gift will support Habitat for Humanity's ReStore resale outlet program.

"We're grateful for this gift from The James M. Cox Foundation," said Larry Gluth, senior vice president of United States and Canada for Habitat for Humanity International. "Cox and its associated entities are strong supporters of Habitat's mission in local markets - sharing resources, creating awareness of our work and supporting build projects through volunteerism. This gift at the national level will help grow Habitat's ReStore resale operations across the United States."

Habitat ReStore resale outlets sell reusable and surplus building materials to the public, providing an environmentally and socially responsible way to keep reusable materials out of the waste stream. The proceeds help local Habitat affiliates fund the construction of Habitat homes.

In addition to the gift from The James M. Cox Foundation, Cox Enterprises is a long-time supporter of local Habitat for Humanity affiliates. In Atlanta alone, Cox employees have donated more than 30,000 volunteer hours to build 15 Habitat houses. Two of the houses were dedicated on March 17, 2012, and were built by approximately 400 Cox employee volunteers.
