Rozzi Crane First Artist Signed to Adam Levine's New Label
SAN FRANCISCO, March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- San Francisco native Rozzi Crane joins Maroon 5 on the soundtrack of the upcoming blockbuster, TheHunger Games. The album will be released Tuesday, March 20.
Crane was the first artist signed by Maroon 5 lead singer and The Voice star Adam Levine for his new label, 222 Records. Her debut album will be released early next year.
"The first time I heard Rozzi sing I knew I had to find a way to be a part of it. I didn't have to think about it. She's THAT incredible," said Levine.
In TheHunger Games, Crane joins with Maroon 5 on "Come Away to the Water," produced by Grammy-winning producer T-Bone Burnett, who has produced Tony Bennett, John Mellencamp, Elton John, Leon Russell, Allison Krauss and Robert Plant. Burnett won Grammy Awards for the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack and an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "The Weary Kind" from Crazy Heart. The soundtrack also features performances by Taylor Swift, Arcade Fire, Neko Case, The Decembrists and more.
Born and raised in San Francisco, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter attended San Francisco Day School and Marin Academy and performed with American Conservatory Theatre's Young Conservatory and Musical Theatre Works before enrolling in the University of Southern California's elite Thornton School of Music.
While studying at USC, Rozzi has opened for Earth, Wind & Fire, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, The Steve Miller Band, Neal Schon of Journey, Esperanza Spaulding, and Anthony Hamilton and toured in the US, Japan and Europe as a background vocalist for the Eagles' Don Henley and Brazilian legend Sergio Mendes. Several of her original songs were featured in Lifetime Television's second most watched film of all time, "Sins of A Mother," after which the New York Post and other media characterized Rozzi as an artist to watch. She recently made the Red Pages Hot 100 list for 2012 and was named a New and Developing Artist to Watch in Hits Magazine.
Since returning from a tour with her own band, Rozzi has begun work on her debut album, to be released next year by Levine's 222 Records. Continue to follow Rozzi for new and exciting updates as 2012 will have many great things in store for this young and talented artist.
