Panasonic ELS Surround® Audio Collaborator Elliot Scheiner Garners 24th Grammy® Nomination
Scheiner Nominated for Best Surround Sound Album
DETROIT and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Elliot Scheiner, themultiple Grammy® Award-winning producer, engineer and collaborator on Panasonic's acclaimed ELS Surround® audio system, recently received his 24th Grammy nomination for outstanding sound engineering for an album released in 2011. Scheiner has already won six Grammy awards.
This year's nomination in the Best Surround Sound Album category honors the super deluxe edition of "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" by Derek and the Dominos.
"I am deeply honored to be nominated for this award," said Scheiner, "and especially to have been a part of the reissue of this iconic album."
Widely considered to be a leading recording and mixing authority and a highly sought-after producer and engineer, Scheiner's pioneering efforts in surround sound are credited with establishing the foundation for the genre. His career includes work with such music legends as the Eagles, Steely Dan, REM, Faith Hill, Queen, Sting, Van Morrison and the Foo Fighters. He won a Grammy in 2007 for Best Surround Sound Album for mixing Donald Fagen's "Morph The Cat." Recent work includes mixing for the Eagles' triple platinum release, "Long Road Out of Eden," along with lauded projects for Paul McCartney, Sting, Band of Horses, and a PBS special with Idina Menzel.
Together, Scheiner and the Acura and Panasonic audio technology teams have created the touchstone for luxury in-car audio with the ELS Premium Audio System - ELS Surround. Since its 2004 debut in the Acura® TL, it has received wide acclaim from the automotive press, audiophiles and musicians for its ability to reproduce music as it sounds in the studio.
Panasonic engineers work with Scheiner during each stage of the vehicle development process, carefully monitoring and tuning the system to maximize the performance of the audio components. At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Jan. 9 - 22, 2012, the newly redesigned 2013 Acura RDX(TM) crossover sport utility vehicle will feature the latest ELS Surround.
In addition to Grammy honors, Scheiner has earned four Emmy® nominations, winning one for his work with the Eagles on their farewell tour broadcast. He also is the recipient of three TEC Awards, TEC Hall of Fame induction, and a Surround Pioneer Award. He holds an honorary doctorate in music from Berklee College of Music and is the only American awarded the Master of Sound from the Japan Audio Society.
