Strictly Final To Spur Further Sales in 3DTVs

- Leading electrical retailers Currys and PC World say 40% of their TV sales
are now 3DTVs -
- Sales in home entertainment tech continues to soar with one TV sold every
second during the Christmas sales period-
Currys and PC World, the UK's leading electricals retailers, reports that sales in
3DTVs have breached the 40% mark for the first time ever.
The retailer predicts that further sales in 3DTV sets will continue to peak this week
- catalysed largely by the much anticipated broadcasting of Britain's favourite prime time
show Strictly Come Dancingin 3D this Saturday.
Earlier this year, the retailer reported sales in 3DTVs alone to have grown 500% since
last year, with 3DTVs now accounting for two in every five TVs sold since the technology
became more accessible to the mainstream market. Last month, Currys and PC World launched
its Logik 3DTV - the first set of its kind to be priced at just under GBP350.
Sales generally within the home cinema technology have risen significantly, with
Currys and PC World recording an 83% year-on-year growth in the category. Figures from
last year showed that 1 TV was sold every second during the Christmas sales, with the
retailer predicting a similar, if not better-than-expected, performance this year.
