Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival Closes Out 2011 With The Best in New Independent Cinema
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Annual Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival (HRIFF) will run December 6-9th at the New Beverly Cinema and December 10(th) and 11(th) at the Bellevarado Studios Screening Room. HRIFF 2011 will showcase independent films, shorts, and documentaries covering every genre; present 20 awards honoring the best in independent filmmaking; and provide a unique opportunity for exposure and recognition by major studios, production houses, and distribution outlets. HRIFF 2011 will be the biggest celebration of independent cinema since the festival's inception. Showcasing the most extensive collection of undiscovered independent films from around the world, alongside work from some of Hollywood's best-known names, HRIFF 2011 will feature more than 50 new films, including the work of HRIFF winners Camilo Vila, Martin Jern, Emil Larsson, Ryan Eggold, Alexander Tuschinski, Jason M. Solomon, Maclain Nelson, Michael Peer, Marc Saltarelli, Chel White, Nicolas Steil, and more talented newcomers to the independent film scene.
Relative newcomers to independent film will be joined by some of the most accomplished names in Hollywood, including Gerard Depardieu (La Vie en Rose, Cyrano de Bergerac), Mathias Gnadinger (Swiss Best Actor nominee), Tom Bower (Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call), Alex Meraz (Twilight), John Robinson (Elephant, Lords of Dogtown), Jeremy Sisto (Six Feet Under, Law & Order), Jonathan Silverman (Weekend At Bernie's), Gary Cole (Pineapple Express), and Danny Strong (Mad Men).
HRIFF seeks to expose the public and the entertainment industry to the best work by new filmmakers who possess an independent vision and operate without significant budgets to create innovative films outside the traditional studio system. Honoring filmmakers with awards of merit and featuring award winners during the film festival, HRIFF strives to stimulate quality new work and provide exposure to distribution channels that maximize opportunities to showcase filmmakers' work on screen.
