Stuart Hall's It's a Knockout Unleashed on India
NOTTINGHAM, England, March 28, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- Nottingham events company Off Limits is taking It's a Knockout to
southern Asia.
They've sealed a ground-breaking deal with Indian company Kooh Sports
worth over GBP100,000
It highlights the trend towards UK businesses recognising the global
growth of Indian companies.
The BBC TV tournament series from the 70s and 80s is a British
institution. Teams donned giant costumes and competed in wacky games
featuring inflatable obstacle courses, water and tons of foam.
Hosted by the inimitable Stuart Hall, the show was incredibly influential
with the public and celebrities.
Even the Royal Family got involved, with a televised charity event at
Alton Towers in 1987. Prince Andrew, Edward, Princess Anne and Sarah Ferguson
appeared alongside Barbara Windsor, John Cleese and Rowan Atkinson.
Off Limits purchased the props and costumes from the original TV series
in 2002. They are the only corporate events company in the world that owns
and operates all equipment from the show.
The company has since breathed new life into TV's biggest tournament. Off
Limits arranges and stages It's a Knockout tournaments in the UK and
overseas.
This March, It's a Knockout received an Indian-style makeover and is all
set to take Mumbai by storm.
This is the first time the format has been tried in India.
Kooh Sports are based in Mumbai and arrange sports participation events.
They contacted Off Limits in July 2010 with a request to take the format to
India.
Off Limits created 14 games and built bespoke equipment for the Indian
audience. Following a 60-day build period it was shipped and will arrive in
Mumbai in early April. An Off Limits event manager will visit India for 45
days to train staff and help with the opening events extravaganza.
Off Limits MD John Tarr commented:
'This is one of our biggest deals to date and I'm overjoyed to say that
it's been a huge success.
India is becoming a major player in the global business world. I'm
pleased to be outsourcing It's a Knockout to Kooh Sports.
The deal was born when Kooh started searching for something unique to
take back to India. Events don't come much more imaginative than It's a
Knockout! They spotted our website http://www.itsaknockout.net, contacted us
and flew over to the UK to start negotiations.'
