Following a highly acclaimed debut event in 2010, MidemNet Lab is set to showcase twice as many start-ups. Companies wanting to be considered for MidemNet Lab 2011* have until October 31 to send in their applications. The finalists, selected by UK consulting and research specialists Music Ally, will win the opportunity to pitch their projects to a jury comprised of industry experts and VC's. They will also receive substantial and valuable feedback from the experts as well as considerable media coverage during MIDEM.
This year, MidemNet Lab features three categories. The first one gives particular emphasis to apps developers. The two others are Industry Services (B2B) and Consumer Services (B2C). One winner per category will be selected by a dedicated jury.
"MidemNet Lab is a great opportunity for music start-ups and apps developers to find new business partners in the music industry, to take their business to the next level and get noticed by investors," comments Dominique Leguern, Director of MIDEM. "There are some great MidemNet Lab success stories to talk about following MIDEM 2010."
TuneWiki, the largest legally-licensed lyrics database in the world, says that MIDEM, as well as being a stamp of approval for the music industry, empowered it to achieve an "A list" of world-renowned artists to sign up their hit songs to its music game, first introduced to the music business community at MIDEM. TuneWiki also raised millions in Series B funding by investors in the immediate aftermath of MIDEM 2010.
For UK-based band management start-up BandCentral, the media interest that resulted from their MidemNet Lab 2010 presentation, raised its profile and led to greater awareness of the company in the industry, setting it up for the year's numerous successes such as the launch of their iPhone App this coming August.
