Fishing Icon Hank Parker to Attend Scout Jamboree
TV Host to Present Jamboree's Berkley Grand Prize for Angling
COLUMBIA, S.C., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Television celebrity Hank Parker will be on hand at the 2010 Scout Jamboree August 2nd to present the Jamboree's highest fishing award. The Grand Prize for Angling, sponsored by Berkley, is an all expenses paid trip for a scout and a parent for a fishing outing with Parker. The fishing adventure will be filmed in the fall of 2010 for a future airing on Parker's television show, "Hank Parker's Outdoor Magazine".
"What an honor it is for me to be on hand for the celebration of 100 years of the Boy Scouts," said Parker. "Boy Scouts and Berkley are offering these youngsters a great opportunity to learn more about fishing and our environment. The awards we will be presenting for angling will be one of the highlights of the jamboree and I'm looking forward to an outstanding fishing trip with the grand prize winner."
"These awards are just a part of the Berkley and Shakespeare commitment to the 2010 National Jamboree," said Mike Phillips, Berkley and Shakespeare Brand Manager. "We will also be operating educational exhibits such as the Berkley PowerBait Fish Tank, a fishing line knot tester, casting technique demonstrations and an Eco Conservation display. Additionally, scouts can earn a one-of-a-kind special issue Fish Hook Lake Patch by catching a fish during the Jamboree. Scouts will be fishing with some great tackle including Shakespeare rod and reel combos, Berkley Gulp! Earthworms and Gulp! Catfish bait and Stren monofilament fishing line." In addition to the Berkley Grand Prize will be daily Shakespeare prizes.
Over 300,000 people from across the globe, including over 40,000 Scouts, volunteer leaders and BSA staffers are scheduled to convene at Fort A.P. Hill in Caroline County, Virginia this July 26-August 4 for the 10-day event.
Parker and his outdoor television show can be seen nationwide on the Versus Channel. Check local listings for air times.
