New Libertas Film Magazine Promotes Freedom, Challenges Hollywood's Political Orthodoxy
LOS ANGELES, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Alexandrian Films is pleased to announce the launch of Libertas Film Magazine (LFM), the first on-line film magazine devoted entirely to celebrating films with pro-freedom, pro-American, and pro-democracy perspectives. Libertas Film Magazine is co-founded and co-edited by independent filmmakers Jason Apuzzo and Govindini Murty.
The new Libertas Film Magazine challenges Hollywood's prevailing liberal political orthodoxy by promoting films that celebrate America, Israel, and democracy around the world, and that affirm individual liberty, free enterprise, family, and faith. LFM provides analysis and reviews of contemporary films, and also features exciting pro-freedom short films, webisodes, podcasts, and movie trailers. LFM also has an extraordinary on-line store with more than 750 contemporary, classic, and foreign films that can be purchased on DVD or by video download.
Libertas Film Magazine is a relaunch and expansion of the popular film blog Libertas (2005-2008), which was created by Jason Apuzzo and Govindini Murty in 2005 as the official blog of the Liberty Film Festival. Libertas was the first site devoted entirely to conservative debate on film. New York Times film critic A.O. Scott called the original Libertas "insightful as well as provocative," and LA Times film columnist Patrick Goldstein wrote that "Libertas is one of the few websites that actually takes movies - and their cultural influence - seriously" in his 2006 LA Times feature on the site. In 2007, Libertas was voted one of the top three culture blogs on the internet at the 2007 Weblog Awards.
