Musical Variety Show Puts the Zest for Life On Stage With Song and Comedy May 21 and 22 at NoHo's El Portal Theatre

LOS ANGELES and NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- How would you like to increase your happiness quotient, even for just an evening? Of course you would. Well, John Mejia's coming out musical variety show promises to put a smile on your face and a bounce in your step on May 21 and 22, at 8 p.m. at the El Portal Theatre in the NoHo district of North Hollywood. "The John Mejia Show" is quirky, it's passionate, and will have theatergoers laughing and crying all at once. The zany and at times profound musical variety romp weaves richly meaningful messages about the important things in life throughout the show.

Led by Mejia's singing and inspired guitar playing, the 90-minute performance features memorable songs, comedy sketches, poignant moments, and a few surprises. From a satire of the late 70s disco days hit, "I Will Survive," refashioned as "I Won't Survive," to silly sketches with cast members donning cow and olive costumes, the show has something for everyone.

Mejia's inspiration for his stage production came from a desire to play music again, music that will entertain and touch people's hearts and souls. As an award-winning choreographer and composer, Mejia has performed in dozens of musical and theatrical productions, concerts and variety shows, as well as several years as a principal dancer with the National Ballet Company of Mexico City.
