CNN's Global Headquarters Debuts New HD Sets By Clickspring Design

New 5000 square foot state-of-the art studio unveiled in Atlanta

ATLANTA, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The first network to provide 24-hour television news coverage, and the first all-news television network in the United States is now going total high-definition with their most technologically advanced studio to date. The studio is located on the seventh floor of CNN's Atlanta headquarters.

Once again, CNN turned to Clickspring Design to create a studio that reflects CNN's commitment to being the first and best in news. According to Clickspring principal, Erik Ulfers, the design was conceived as three layers of visual information that support the simultaneous verbal and print delivery of the news stories, with each layer adding additional depth to the story. The studio includes a 270-degree rotating anchor desk, allowing for multiple broadcasting angles and presentation locations. The set features more than 50 HD monitors, including three 103-inch HD monitors, a touch-screen, a Perceptive Pixel interactive screen, a large, blended HD rear projection screen, and nine areas supported by LED floor and wall elements filled with continually updated editorial content. The studio includes a new weather center and will be home to the CNN Newsroom, CNN Saturday Morning, CNN Sunday Morning and Sanjay Gupta, MD. Founded in 1980 by Ted Turner, CNN, "the most trusted name in news," is owned by Time Warner.

Clickspring principal Erik Ulfers has worked with CNN for 15 years, designing numerous sets for CNN and sister network Headline News in Washington, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles and London. Clickspring's sets for CNN's Election Center in New York garnered last years News Emmy. The Clickspring design team, led by Ulfers, also included Executive Producer Lori Nadler, and designers Steven Dvorak, Bryan Higgason, Kevin Kievit, and Christine DeWitte. The CNN team was led by Guy Pepper, Executive Director, Design and included Alan Reese, Jim Moorman, and Jeff Paquin.
