MiniMash Introduces the Easiest Way to Make and Share Videos Online
MiniMash's Web-based Software Allows Anyone to Produce Short Movies in a Matter of Minutes Rather Than Hours
PALM DESERT, Calif., March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- At today's DEMO Spring 2010 conference, MiniMash(TM) will unveil the world's only Web-based platform for the creation of mashups with user-generated video. Available at www.minimash.com, one can create custom-made video mashups simply by dragging and dropping video clips or still images into an easy-to-navigate timeline. Users can then add in transitions, effects and music in order to make their videos truly come to life. For those people who want to create a near "instant" video from their content, MiniMash provides an AutoMash(TM) feature, which automatically produces professional-looking edits with a single click of a button. MiniMash is currently in private Beta.
Like Twitter's 140-or-less-character Tweets, MiniMash videos are quickly assembled and concise (99 seconds max). Users can easily share their mashes by e-mailing a link to the mash or posting it to any one of a number of destinations such as a blog, Web site, or Facebook page. Other potential uses for one's mashup movie masterpiece include personal video greetings, video business promotions, as well as citizen journalism and "How To" videos. All video mashups are hosted at MiniMash.com. Users can also choose to share or store privately their videos for their own groups.
Growing market for online video
According to data from comScore, online video viewing continued to reach record levels in December 2009, with nearly 32 billion videos viewed during the month. And, with the recent proliferation of inexpensive video capture devices - such as the FlipCam and a variety of smart phones - there is a clear trend toward everyday people using their own content to make mashups rather than merely copying and posting videos created by others.
However, even with the emergence of consumer-friendly video capture devices, there has been a lack of correspondingly inexpensive and simple-to-use video editing software. Apple's iMovie is free and relatively easy to use but only ships on the Mac. MiniMash, conversely, is available to anyone with a Web browser. MiniMash's Web-based offering also echoes the trend toward software being offered as a service rather than as a desktop application.
"As a relatively new medium, online video is still in its infancy but on the cusp of exploding. Whoever manages to give people the right tool to take advantage of the medium will gain ownership of this huge opportunity," said MiniMash Co-Founder, Claudia Ward. "Our mission, quite simply, is to be the best experience for user-generated video on the web."
"The DEMO committee is always excited to see new products that really do have the potential to change how we work or play. While watching video online has become a daily occurrence for many, what's been missing is an extremely easy way for most of us to create videos," said Matt Marshall, Executive Producer of DEMO. "Certainly, MiniMash seems to have an offering that makes it possible for virtually anyone to become an active producer of videos."
