NEW YORK, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) returns for its 11th year bigger and better than ever, calling for submissions for the premier Latino film festival in the country, running from Tuesday, August 3 through Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Clearview Chelsea Cinemas (260 West 23rd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues) and the School of Visual Arts Theater (333 West 23rd Street between 8th and 9th Avenues). NYILFF is presented by HBO(TM).
NYILFF also announces its "Watch Yourself" TV Commercial Contest, calling for script/storyline entries for the festival's 2010 commercial. The winning entry will be produced as a 60-sec. commercial in partnership with GlobalHue Latino, one of the nation's largest Hispanic advertising and marketing agencies, which has been tapped by NYILFF to lead the organization's 2010 advertising campaign. The contract awarded to the agency will encompass the overall campaign's advertising strategy and development of key advertising materials to promote the festival.

"The new position of Managing Director plus our partnership with GlobalHue Latino takes the festival to a higher level and allows us to provide our sponsors, filmmakers, stakeholders and audiences the best experience possible."
Film submissions will be accepted at www.NYLatinoFilm.com beginning now. Early Bird Submission deadline: March 5, 2010; Regular Submission deadline: March 19, 2010; and, Final Submission deadline: April 2, 2010. Filmmakers are invited to submit shorts, features, documentaries as well as video work.
Additionally, NYILFF recently hired Tanya Bravo in the newly created position of Festival Managing Director, which serves to centralize all festival operations under Tanya's leadership. Tanya brings to the NYILFF over 10 years of music and entertainment event production and marketing experience, including helping to launch MySpace Latino, where she developed for the US Hispanic market all music programs, both online and offline, for such A-list artists as Don Omar, Wisin y Yandel, Juanes, Julieta Venegas, Luis Fonsi and many more. For three years, Tanya also served as Festival Director for The South Beach Comedy Festival, a project created by William Morris and Comedy Central, and, prior to that, founded and produced the critically acclaimed annual "Latin Funk Music Festival" in New York and Miami. In May 2005, Tanya Bravo was featured in Latina Magazine as a "Latina Power Player" in the music industry.
THE NYILFF "WATCH YOURSELF" TV COMMERCIAL CONTEST
NYILFF and GlobalHue Latino invite the public to submit their script/storyline idea for a 60-second commercial that captures the culturally progressive essence of NYILFF and its mission to champion films by, about and for the Latino community. The idea should be bold and edgy featuring urban diversity that reflects the NYILFF core audience of tastemaker Urban Latinos . The objective is to promote awareness of and attendance in the festival.
What is the contest's creative brief?

-- We are unique. We are special. We love cinema. So give us your best
shot of how we make movies. Be serious, be funny, be absurd, be
hip...anything goes! Just tell us your story in 60 seconds.
Entry Guidelines:
-- Ideas must be fully explained, in the form of a script or storyline
(not exceed 2 pages), and must include a brief synopsis of the main
idea.
Entry Deadlines:
-- Entries will be received beginning now until the deadline of March 1,
2010.
How the contest works:
-- The NYILFF and GlobalHue will select the idea that best captures the
spirit of the festival and promotes it.
-- The winning creative concept will form the core idea from which all
other communication will be developed (digital media, print, radio,
wild postings, etc.)
-- The winner will work with a team of experts at GlobalHue to develop
and bring to life the script.
-- The commercial trailer will be produced by GlobalHue, in partnership
with participating production houses. The winner will participate in
all aspects of the production (casting and talent, locations,
direction) with the supervision of the GlobalHue team.
-- The production will happen in New York Area and the winner will be
financially responsible for his/her own travel
arrangements/accommodations, except for air travel to and from New
York (to be covered by NYILFF).
