The Franklin Institute Presents 'Larry Kane's Ticket to Ride' Beginning March 5

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Franklin Institute will present "Larry Kane's Ticket to Ride," an extraordinary lecture and multi-media presentation featuring best-selling Beatles author and Philadelphia journalist Larry Kane's experiences with the Beatles, beginning Friday, March 5 @ 8 PM. Presented in the Institute's Franklin Theater, the shows will be hosted by rock historian and radio impresario Denny Somach and presented on consecutive Fridays at 8 PM, and Saturdays at both 5 and 8 PM for a total of 12 shows. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 15 for $33.50, with each purchase including a Larry Kane highlight CD of his audio interviews of the Beatles. Emmy Award-winning journalist and NY Times best-selling author Larry Kane was the only American reporter in the Beatles' touring entourage during their historic U.S. tours in 1964 and 1965. An accomplished author and Beatles historian, Kane has penned two books about his experiences, Ticket to Ride: Inside the Beatles' 1964 and 1965 Tour that Changed the World and Lennon Revealed -- and will be writing a third Beatles book with Philadelphia-based publisher Running Press. Celebrating over 50 years in broadcast journalism, Kane is one of the nation's most respected figures in television news. Kane has interviewed a virtual 'who's who' of newsmakers throughout his career, has covered 21 national political conventions and interviewed every President from Lyndon Johnson to George W. Bush, although he states, "I have interviewed kings and queens, been to the Chernobyl disaster and been through devastating earthquakes. No matter where I go and what I do, the first question I get asked is 'what are the Beatles like'?" Currently, Kane is the host of the Voice of Reason on the Comcast Network, and can be heard on KYW, is an occasional writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer; Kane also serves as a broadcast consultant for the Comcast Sports Group and the Comcast Programming Group.

Each "Larry Kane's Ticket to Ride" show will include footage from all parts of the Beatles world -- including concert footage, Yoko Ono, footage of Kane's interview of Lennon and McCartney in 1968 -- their last interview together, and highlights of John Lennon doing an impromptu weather report in Philadelphia in 1975. Known for his extraordinary storytelling, Kane will also weave in a treasure trove of stories, some new each show, that mine the years he spent with the Beatles, and the years of relationships he subsequently had with the Beatles and the people around them.
