Authentic Entertainment, Inc. and All-Star Curtis Granderson Ink Exclusive Multi-Platform Programming Development Deal
FIRST PROJECT TO BE TV & ONLINE SERIES, 'STADIUM SECRETS'
BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading non-fiction TV production company Authentic Entertainment, Inc. announced today that Major League Baseball All-Star Curtis Granderson has entered into an exclusive agreement to develop and host original non-fiction video content for TV, the internet and mobile. Under that agreement, Granderson will host Authentic's new TV and online series, STADIUM SECRETS. Currently in development, the multi-part one-hour series will take sports fans on the ultimate insider's tour of both historic and new venues across the country.
STADIUM SECRETS is "Cities of the Underworld" for sports fans. From the goal line to luxury boxes high above, the series takes viewers on a journey to uncover the legends, the engineering, the cutting-edge technology, and the secrets housed within - and even underneath - these monuments to America's love affair with sports. At each location, Granderson will warm up with the home team for some first-hand accounts of local traditions and superstitions, before meeting with officials who will provide all of us with unparalleled access.
Born in Illinois in 1981, All-Star Curtis Granderson started at center field for the Detroit Tigers in 2006. A year later he became one of only four players in baseball history - and the first since 1957 - to record at least 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 home runs, and 20 stolen bases in a single season. Granderson was voted Man of the Year this year by the MLB Players Association, an award honoring excellence both on and off the field. His Grand Kids Foundation provides educational support for kids and families in Michigan's inner cities. Granderson has appeared as a color commentator for postseason games on TBS and recently published his autobiography, All You Can Be.
"Authentic will be providing an exclusive, VIP experience for fans everywhere - a behind-the-scenes journey that will be exciting for all of us. I am eager to begin working on this project and look forward to a successful partnership," Granderson stated. Helga Eike, Vice President of Development for Authentic Entertainment, and Joe Cantwell, Managing Director of Authentic Digital, are overseeing development of the project for the company.
Best known for producing some of cable television's most popular reality series, including "Ace of Cakes (Food Network)," "Flipping Out (Bravo)," "Cities of the Underworld" (History Channel), "My First Home" (TLC), and "Lock 'N Load" (Showtime), Authentic Entertainment currently has twelve series on air with nine different networks, and is in production on new series and specials for Discovery, Food Network, Nat Geo Channel and Oxygen.
"We welcome Curtis to the Authentic family and look forward to a mutually rewarding relationship. He is a tremendous talent, whose passion for the game and its history made him an ideal host for our new series," said Lauren Lexton, Executive Producer and cofounder of Authentic. "As the Company expands its slate of programs produced for multiple platforms, we look for talent with a high level of expertise and who connect with a tech-savvy audience. Since he became a professional baseball player, Curtis has been very effective in communicating with fans through traditional and new media, earning a leadership position on the field, in the broadcast booth and in the community."
