Universal Music Publishing Group Signs Exclusive World-Wide Publishing Agreement With Jeremih and Mick Schultz

Co-Writer of Jeremih's Multi-Chart Topping Hit Song, 'Birthday Sex'

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) today announced the signing of an exclusive world-wide publishing agreements with Def Jam's latest sensation Jeremih and songwriter/producer Mick Schultz.

At just twenty-one and twenty years of age respectively, and already heavy hitters in music production, newcomers Jeremih and Schultz erupted onto the music scene earlier this year with the smash hit, "Birthday Sex." Schultz co-wrote all of the songs on Jeremih's self-titled debut album (Def Jam Records).

"Birthday Sex" became the first song in several years (outside of the Billboard Hot 100) to simultaneously have the greatest airplay gain and digital download gain. It hit No. 1 on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs and the Hot RingMasters, and in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot 100 Airplay. Schultz also co-wrote Jeremih's new single "Imma Star (Everywhere We Are)."

A chance meeting brought Mick together with Jeremih. Their mutual love of music made them fast friends and the pair began working together out of Mick's Chicago studio. "With music, like everything else, you need harmony to make harmony," explains Mick. "Jeremih and I have worked well together from the beginning and just sort of vibe off of each other. The music just flows out naturally."

To date, Mick has started his own production company, Mick Schultz Productions, aligned with his first artist, Jeremih, now signed to Def Jam Records, signed a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group and produced a hit record, ranked number one on Billboard. Jeremih is currently hard at work churning out future hits while Mick is in the studio working with new Island Def Jam artist Jenna Andrews.

Jeremih and Schultz join the UMPG roster of hit makers which includes: Tricky Stewart, Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Justin Timberlake, Polow Da Don, Keri Hilson, Musiq Soulchild, Ciara, 50 Cent, Ice Cube, Ludacris, Mary J. Blige, Neff-u, Swizz Beatz, and many others.
