De La Nuez art raises money for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- World-renowned pop artist Nelson De La Nuez had the paparazzi flashing as he exited his stretch limousine and made his entrance to the New York Emerald Gala. He maneuvered his way down the yellow brick "red carpet" smiling for the media and press line on September 24th after a yearlong tour of his artwork with the Inspirations of Oz collection for Warner Bros. His artwork was the talk of the town at this gala, as two of his Wizard of Oz paintings, "The Wicked Witch" and "Farewell to Oz," were involved in bidding wars with the profits going to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation charity. His third piece, an original "Ditching Dorothy," which has toured the world, was also on display and may soon be available for purchase through the artist.
Before this event, the artwork was on display for a week at the prominent NY Plaza Hotel to kick off Fashion Week at the Plaza.
New York's infamous Tavern on the Green's Jennifer Oz LeRoy (granddaughter of "The Wizard of Oz" producer Mervyn LeRoy) played host to over 1000 invitation-only VIP guests, many of whom were celebrities and socialites. The evening featured appearances by original munchkins and performances by singer Ashanti and Judy Garland's daughter, Lorna Luft. Guests dined on an array of foods ranging from roasted turkey, filet of beef, rack of lamb, crepes to order and pastas to extensive desserts. The Empire State Building was lit green at sundown in honor of the film's anniversary and the Emerald Gala.
De La Nuez's "Wicked Witch" painting has recently received a great deal of press due to the fact the King of Pop Michael Jackson bought the artwork along with two other pieces just before his death. The "Wicked Witch" art quickly became an iconic, collectible piece of work, selling throughout the world to art investors and Michael Jackson fans alike.
De La Nuez is listed on the "Who's Who List of the Most Collected Artists of Our Time" with the premiere auction houses and sold in galleries internationally with collectors spanning the globe. His artwork is collected by countless celebrities and he is also a spokesperson for Fredrix canvas, the #1 fine artist canvas company in the world.
