National Press Club to Host "NEWSMAKER" Media Briefing on World War II African American Soldiers Documentary: Veterans, Artists to Introduce Film

WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Veterans and producers and writers of a documentary chronicling the contributions of African American soldiers in World War II will preview the film at a National Press Club Newsmakers press conference at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Holeman Lounge, 13th floor, National Press Building, 529 14th St., N.W., Washington, DC.

Choc'late Soldiers from the USA is an untold story of African-American soldiers in wartime England, a place where many of them, for the first time, experience equality and what it was truly like to be an American. The film explores their journey, their mettle under combat and their exceptional courage.

Participants will include Mary Ragland, 6888th Postal Battalion; Wilfred Strange, 69th Infantry Division; John Wood, 494th Port Battalion; director, writer and producer Noel "Sonny" Izon; writer and producer Gregory S. Cooke; and Regina Cooke, co-producer and art director. Retired Gen. Arthur Gregg also will speak.

The film's world premiere and screening is set for Nov. 10 at the Hirschorn Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden, Ring Auditorium.
