CLEVELAND, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Cantores Cleveland will perform one of its most popular programs on Friday, November 6, at Cleveland State University (CSU). "La Bella Musica: Singing the Italian Renaissance" will combine period art and readings with the vocal performance of sacred and secular music of the Italian Renaissance. The program features music by Josquin, Monteverdi, Caimo, Willaert, and others. Cantores Cleveland will be joined by members of the CSU Chorale, Dr. Brian Bailey, director, Fritz Schaufele and a student instrumental quartet.
"La Bella Musica" will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6 at the Drinko Recital Hall, Cleveland State University, 2121 Euclid Ave., Cleveland (corner of Euclid and E. 22nd St.). A pre-concert lecture will begin at 7:20 p.m. The event also features a period art show that will be in the lobby of the Recital Hall. This program is free and open to the public.
"One of the goals of Cantores Cleveland is to put historic music into context. It's more than just a vocal performance. Our programs provide a historical snapshot of the environment behind the music with the goal to both educate and entertain the audience," said Barbara Margolis, Artistic Director of Cantores Cleveland. "We're thrilled to be able to collaborate with Cleveland State University to present this program of early music. The music department has some amazing talent, and we are looking forward to performing with them in November."
