Verizon FiOS TV Adds More Premium Video-on-Demand Programming in HD, Continuing to Lead the Industry
New Programming Choices Available From HBO, Cinemax and The Movie Channel; Starz and Encore VOD Libraries Are Expanded
NEW YORK, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon is continuing its high-definition and video-on-demand (VOD) programming leadership by adding even more programming choices for FiOS TV customers who subscribe to premium content packages.
FiOS TV subscribers who have HBO and Cinemax soon can enjoy new HBO HD and Cinemax HD VOD channels, with 150 hours of programming from each channel -- a total of 300 hours -- giving FiOS TV customers more HD programming from HBO and Cinemax than any other provider.
In addition, Verizon is expanding its FiOS TV Movie Package by adding on-demand content in HD from The Movie Channel, by doubling the amount of HD VOD content from Starz, and by adding 150 hours of movies on-demand from Encore. All of the new content will be available this fall.
"FiOS TV customers want the best in HD programming, especially when it comes to premium channels, and Verizon offers the most HD premium content in the industry," said Tricia Lynch, director of Video on Demand programming at Verizon. "With more than 70 premium movie channels, more than 40 of which are in HD, the most HBO and Cinemax HD channels available, and FiOS TV's incredible picture-and-sound quality, our customers don't need to leave the comfort of their home to get a true movie-theater experience."
All of the new VOD content will be included for free to FiOS TV customers who subscribe to the premium packages. These customers already get up to 300 hours of standard-definition VOD from the two packages, in addition to the 300 hours of HD VOD programming. Customers who subscribe to FiOS TV's Movie Package get 45 premium channels from Showtime, Starz, The Movie Channel, Encore, Flix, IFC and Sundance, including 850 hours of free VOD programming.
Verizon's FiOS TV customers can access Video on Demand simply by pressing the "VOD" or "On Demand" button on their remote control, by using the menu on FiOS TV's Interactive Media Guide, or by selecting the VOD channel.
FiOS TV's Video on Demand offers more than 15,000 titles per month, 70 percent of which are free. This includes everything from popular movies and concerts to exercise and kids programming -- all watched in the comfort of consumers' living rooms. FiOS TV VOD also features more than 1,400 HD titles per month, more than 1,100 of which are free.
