U.S. Census Bureau Daily Feature for Sept. 21
WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following is the daily "Profile America" feature from the U.S. Census Bureau:
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20090226/CENSUSLOGO) MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21: MAJOR TV SHOWS DEBUT
Profile America -- Monday, September 21st. This is traditionally the month when new television shows are premiered. Among those debuting in past September's were Law and Order, the Muppet Show, and the Waltons. Others include Mission: Impossible, Maverick, Friends, and the hugely popular M*A*S*H. One classic was seen for the first time on this date in 1957 -- Perry Mason, which featured Raymond Burr as the noted criminal lawyer during its 17-year run and seems to be always in rerun. Today, less than 2 percent of U.S. homes do not have a television set. In fact, the average household has two or more sets, and nearly two-thirds are hooked up to cable.
