Holidays or Not, They're Bringing Cheer to the Komen NYC Race for the Cure(R)
NEW YORK, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The New York Holiday Singers, a group of New York City-based holiday carolers, will be pulling out their merriment, seasonal gear and songs for the Susan G. Komen New York City Race for the Cure on Sunday, September 13, 2009 in Central Park. The festive group will be helping raise funds and awareness for the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and local organizations providing breast health education, screening, and treatment.
"Breast health is something that everyone -- women and men -- should be concerned with," says New York Holiday Singers Executive Director, Jen Arvay, "and with some of our Holiday Singers' lives being touched by breast cancer, we passionately support the efforts of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Because music is the grand communicator, we'll also be singing and sauntering along the Race path."
First held in 1991, The Komen New York City Race for the Cure has grown from a few thousand women participants to more than 25,000 men and women, including over 1,600 breast cancer survivors, walking and running in 2008.
Catch the New York Holiday Singers running -- or strolling -- and singing the length of the 5K (3.1 mile) Komen New York City Race for the Cure course starting at 9:00 am, by looking for their themed attire. Please join us and the Komen New York City Race for the Cure today by registering online or pledging donations to the team, New York Holiday Singers for Boobies, at http://www.komennyc.org/.
