Industry and Market Vet Charlie Morgan to Lead Emmis/Indianapolis Cluster

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Charlie Morgan, long-time leader of the Susquehanna/Cumulus radio cluster in Indianapolis, has been hired by Emmis Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:EMMS) to lead its four Indy radio stations (WIBC-FM, WFNI-AM, WYXB-FM and WLHK-FM).

"Charlie is widely regarded as one of the best managers in radio and we are excited to welcome him back to the Indianapolis radio scene," Patrick Walsh, Chief Operation Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Emmis said. "Charlie's leadership, experience and management style is perfectly suited for Emmis Indianapolis. We respected Charlie as a competitor, enjoyed working closely with him as a partner during his tenure at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and can't wait for him to begin leading our Indianapolis radio stations."

For the last two years, Morgan has served as President and COO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Productions and Radio Network. Prior to joining IMS, he spent 22 years at Susquehanna (now Cumulus), serving in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, including on-air personality, program director, operations manager and VP/market manager of WFMS/WJJK/WISG from 2000-07.

"I've long admired the Emmis radio stations and team that Tom Severino and Jeff Smulyan built," Morgan said. "Radio has been my life's passion and I'm excited to join a culture and team at Emmis Indianapolis that shares my enthusiasm for radio's future. Emmis is blessed with four great radio stations in Indianapolis and I look forward to working with the team to help these stations grow and prosper as the economy begins to rebound."

Morgan, 48, is widely known, respected and active in the Indianapolis community. He is past Chairman of the 500 Festival, Indianapolis Civic Theater and Radio Broadcasters of Indianapolis. He is past radio chair of the Country Radio Broadcasters, and currently sits on the board of directors of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Indiana Amber Alert State Committee and Butler University Board of Visitors.

Morgan begins his role as VP/Market Manager for Emmis on September 14th. He replaces Tom Severino, who passed away in early July after a 5-month battle with cancer.
