HDNet to Feature Live Coverage of the Launch of Space Shuttle Discovery

Network's high definition coverage of STS-128 begins at 1:00 a.m. ET, Tuesday, August 25

DALLAS, Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- WHAT: HDNet will air LIVE coverage of the launch of STS-128, Space Shuttle Discovery's mission to the International Space Station, beginning early morning Tuesday, August 25. HDNet's coverage begins at 1:00 a.m. ET, (10:00 p.m. PT Monday night) with the launch scheduled for 1:36 a.m. ET.

Discovery's flight will deliver supplies and equipment to the International Space Station. Inside the shuttle's cargo bay is the Leonardo Multi-Purpose Logistics Module (MPLM). The MPLM is a pressurized "moving van" carrying life support and science racks that will be temporarily added to the station. The MPLM will also be carrying the COLBERT treadmill, named after comedian Stephen Colbert.

This is Discovery's 37th mission to space and the 30th space shuttle mission dedicated to the assembly and maintenance of the International Space Station. Her crew will be led by Commander Rick "C.J." Sturckow, who is joined by Patrick Forrester, a veteran of two spaceflights, and the last station astronaut to be rotated on the shuttle, Nicole Scott.

WHEN: Coverage begins early morning Tuesday, August 25, at 1:00 a.m. ET with the launch scheduled for 1:36 a.m. ET (10:36 p.m. PT Monday night).
