Guinness World Records(TM) TV Triples Licensing Revenue Through Online Exposure

LONDON, August 12/PRNewswire/ -- Guinness World Records [GWR] TV today announced record growth in clip licensing as a result of its extensive distribution of footage to online platforms.

As the new GWR TV channel on Factual TV goes live, GWR TV announced 100% increase in YouTube viewership since the beginning of 2009 and an overall 110% year on year increase in clip licensing as result of heightened brand visibility online.

Since its launch on YouTube in 2006, GWR TV signed with numerous online portals for distribution of its footage. GWR TV partnered with Factual TV earlier this year with both long-form and short-form content in form of 50 x 30' episodes available for download and an additional few hundred short-form clips for streaming.

Other online platforms contributing to the success include Vuze, Metacafe, Sevenload in Germany, and the French video sharing portal Dailymotion where they have seen a steady increase of 5% in viewers every month since the February 2008 launch.

Rob Molloy, Director of Television at Guinness World Records said "Our ever-growing presence through a variety of online video portals gives us a great shop window not only for our consumers to view our content but also from producers all over the world looking for genuine record breaking content. As we make more and more available we are delighted to see this have a direct and immediate effect on the level of revenue we see from clip licensing."

GWR TV leverage the online market to increase demand for clips from its original productions in countries such as the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and China which are complemented by distribution deals into more than 85 territories worldwide.
