MORRISON, Colo., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- What:
An interactive youth concert, featuring live music and international speakers to announce a
"global call to action" to youth from around the world. Presented by Pennies for Peace and HomeVibe, the event will benefit Pennies for Peace, a program of Central Asia Institute, which promotes and supports community-based education on a global scale, one penny at a time. It will also benefit the speakers' and exhibitors' nonprofit groups, as well.
Who: Internationally-Recognized Speakers: -- Greg Mortenson, Nobel Peace Prize nominee, founder of Pennies for Peace and best-selling author of Three Cups of Tea -- Videotaped presentation by Nick Kristof, New York Times columnist -- Videotaped presentation by Tom Brokaw, NBC-TV journalist and author Concert Band "with a Purpose": -- Braddigan, an indie rock luminary, human rights activist and founder of Love, Light & Melody (who also sold out Madison Square Garden with former band, Dispatch, to benefit Zimbabwe) Youth Activists and Leaders: -- Amira Mortenson, 13, Bozeman, Mont., Pennies for Peace ambassador -- Ana Dodson, 17, Evergreen, Colo., founder of Peruvian Hearts -- Ashley Shuyler, 24, Genesee, Colo., founder of AfricAid -- Zach Bonner, 12, Tampa, Fla., founder of Little Red Wagon Foundation -- Garret Weiss, 18, and Kyle Weiss, 17, Danville, Calif., founders of FUNDaFIELD -- Other youth activists, including some from Pakistan When: Sunday, Sept. 20, 5-10 p.m. 5-7 p.m. - Exhibit Fair 7-10 p.m. - Concert, Speakers and Event Where: Red Rocks Amphitheatre 18300 W. To launch a call-to-action to our youth; to inspire them; to emphasize the value of youth in creating the future; to showcase the importance of creating change with individual talents; to share the importance of having "three cups of tea with elders"; and to help make their voices heard in this era of hope and change in our country. "We want everyone - from teens to adults - to walk away from this concert and speaking event, knowing they can make a stand in their own communities for causes that inspire them - from human issues to social causes and environmental issues," said Greg Mortenson, Nobel Peace Prize nominee, founder of award winning international youth program Pennies for Peace, and best-selling author of Three Cups of Tea.
