Mark-Taylor Residential to Be Featured on NBC Nightly News

Segment on company's work providing rent-free apartments to homeless families scheduled to air Wednesday, May 6

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Mark-Taylor Residential's work providing rent-free apartments to homeless families will gain national attention this week: "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" is scheduled to broadcast a story on the outreach program on Wednesday, May 6 in the evening.

Channel 12 News in Phoenix has been covering the effort locally in a series of stories.

"We couldn't be more excited," says Dale Philips, president of the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based apartment firm, which has been involved in such work since 2006. That year, it partnered with the Save the Family Foundation, a Phoenix-area nonprofit that helps struggling families become self-sufficient, and began donating an apartment annually to a Save the Family client in need of a helping hand.

This year, though, Mark-Taylor decided it wanted to do more, given the skyrocketing level of need in such a difficult economy. Again working with Save the Family, the multifamily company agreed to donate 12 apartments during the year to worthy families, a handful of whom now have moved into a Mark-Taylor property and begun their new lives. For such recipients, a year of rent-free living offers a chance to create a nest egg, to finish their education, and build a better future for themselves and their children.

For Mark-Taylor, the program represents an investment that they hope will reap dividends in many people's lives. "We want this experience to generate faith and hope in people, not just the recipients, but also in those who are struggling and need to know that they can change their lives for the better," Phillips says. "That's why we do this year after year."

NBC Nightly News airs at 5:30 p.m. Arizona time on Phoenix's Channel 12, but check local listings for the channel and time in your area.
