Actor and Ugly Dog Get Walk of Fame Star

PALM SPRINGS, Calif., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Actor Dane Andrew, flanked by his famous K-9 star, Rascal, "The World's Ugliest Dog," received a star on the "Walk of Fame." The day was proclaimed "Dane Andrew Day" by the mayor of Palm Springs. Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack had a resolution presented as did the legislature, and a word was phoned in from the Governor's office.

The celebration and dedication had no shortage of pomp with a pair of scantily clad jingling belly dancers, and hosted a number of speakers that included producers and directors who had worked with Andrew over the years and his parents, Dale and Doris Beezley. Andrew said, "This is Rascal's star as well, since he has done more TV and film work than most Hollywood SAG actors. What an incredible honor to have bestowed considering the huge celebrity names immortalized in the Walk of Stars, but one of the most amazing thrills was getting a special presentation from Cheeta the chimp, from Tarzan and Bedtime for Bonzo with Ronald Reagan."

The Mayor of their hometown of Sunnyvale, Calif. named Dane Andrew and Rascal the current "Distinguished Residents" at the "State of the City." Rascal, the 7-lb. naturally hairless Chinese Crested critter, is the first and only dog in history to hold 6 current ugly dog titles from different contests. Rascal was first named World's Ugliest Dog in 2002, and is now a "Ring of Champions" title holder. He is current winner of The Oldest Ugly Dog Contest in Fort Bragg, Ca., The Regal Cinema's Hotel for Dogs Ugly Dog Contest, author Tim Downs' Ugly Dog Contest, the PSPCA "Ugly but Cute" photo contest, and may be headed for the Guinness record books like his grandfather, Chi Chi, who won 8 World Titles. Rascal, along with master Dane Andrew, has stared in several horror movies and been seen on Animal Planet, The View, Tonight Show, ET, "The Adventures of Scanky Doo," People and more. Soon the pair will market their patented leash line to raise money for animal charities.

Dane Andrew was presented a star in the sidewalk not just for his numerous acting roles, but also for his producing and on-camera TV show interviewing of numerous and sometimes notorious politicians and celebrities for just about all the national entertainment news TV shows, according to the web site http://www.imdb.com/, in which both Andrew and Rascal are listed.

The star inscription reads, "Film / TV / Photography."
