65,000 Pounds of Electronic Waste Collected at Cox & Synergy E-Waste Recycling Event

Event held April 25 at Hampton Roads Convention Center

CHESAPEAKE, Va., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly 200 area residents and businesses attended Cox Hampton Roads and Synergy Recycling's E-waste recycling event held, Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Hampton Convention Center.

Approximately 65,000 pounds of materials were collected within a six-hour window of time.

"We were thrilled to sponsor this event to help preserve and protect the environment right here in Hampton Roads. It was truly a great sight to see with all of the cars and trucks loaded with items like computers, televisions, stereos, camcorders, cell phones, printers, scanners... and you name it! Our partners at Synergy indicated to us that if it has a plug, they would accept it!" says Gary McCollum, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cox Hampton Roads. "No dates are set just yet, but we will be sponsoring additional efforts in the future."
