Fox Sports en Espanol Maximizes Advertiser Experience at 2009 Upfront
Network to Unveil New Platforms, Announce Original Programming, Launch Exciting Scavenger Hunt and Stream Event Live Online
NEW YORK, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Fox Sports en Espanol, the country's top Spanish-language sports brand, announced today that it will host its annual Upfront event in New York City on May 19th, from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. Twelve years after launching as the first Spanish-language sports network in the U.S., Fox Sports en Espanol will unveil an array of exciting developments, including new original programming, rights to prestigious sporting event properties, and its first foray into online gaming, a booming sector of the global sports market. The event will also serve as a launch pad for its annual scavenger hunt, an interactive promotion which pits the country's top advertising professionals against each other in a fun experiential contest to receive a variety of prizes. For the first year in its history, the network will also stream these activities live online, for those unable to physically attend the event at Manhattan's famed Cipriani's.
"We relish the opportunity to update our advertising partners on exciting developments for the year ahead, both in person as well as online through live streaming video of the event," said Tom Maney, Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales for Fox Sports en Espanol. "The Upfront event and webcast occur during a difficult economic period, when most other networks have forgone the Upfront season. In contrast, we are thrilled to be doing well and investing in this important interactive process."
In order to accommodate those who will not be able to attend, Fox Sports en Espanol encourages participants to feel the passion online, through its live streaming video of the entire Upfront event at www.foxsportsla.msn.com/upfront/webcast.com .
Although many new announcements will be made in 2009, the network is also proud to bring back one aspect that has been part of the event for 5 years. The Fox Sports en Espanol Scavenger Hunt will feature many new elements this year, including social networking, competitive team play, and a combination of real-life and online action. The game will be housed at www.ChatterballRun2009.com, asking participant teams to solve multi-layered clues across the web universe, interact with aspects of the network's virtual world, and develop a team page as part of the competitive game. The grand prize winner of this year's scavenger hunt will receive a nighttime helicopter ride over Manhattan, among other exciting prizes yet to be announced.
With the 2010 World Cup around the corner, Fox Sports en Espanol is excited to serve as the home for some of the world's best-known soccer tournaments, including its recent acquisition of the U.S. Spanish-language rights to the UEFA Champions League. The network will televise 94 live and premiere UEFA Champions League and SuperCup matches each season, and will also have the rights to broadcast ancillary UEFA Champions League programming.
"We are thrilled to bring the UEFA Champions League to the first and biggest Spanish-language sports network in the United States," said David Sternberg, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Fox Sports en Espanol. "This prestigious tournament will strengthen our programming lineup immeasurably and deliver outstanding year-round action on multiple platforms to Latino soccer fans around the country."
This recent acquisition bolsters the network's reputation of having the most relevant and exciting soccer content available in the country, including new tournament properties and original programming options timed perfectly for the 2010 World Cup. Capitalizing on the exponential growth of on-line gaming and its appeal to sports fans across the country, the network will also be introducing an exciting new interactive property for consumers and advertisers nationwide.
At the Upfront, Fox Sports en Espanol will also highlight the return of its national promotion El Sueno de Tu Vida, the only national tour that enables Mexican League and MLS teams to scout Hispanic soccer talent. This annual tour creates national media attention for sponsors at a local level.
"We are in the unique and enviable position of being inundated with exciting new announcements and growth plans for the year ahead," added Maney. "We look forward to enhancing our long-standing partnerships with key advertisers, and taking them along for this exciting ride."
