New CatholicTV Website Embraces Catholic Community

New video and Web 2.0 features expand social media impact of site

WATERTOWN, Mass. and BOSTON, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- CatholicTV(R) announced the launch of their new website, www.catholictv.com, developed by Verndale. The site features many new improvements including advanced streaming video technology, social features to engage a community of viewers, and an updated design that reflects the organization's philosophy. Viewers can now not only view live streaming broadcasts from CatholicTV, but they can play a variety of Catholic broadcasting episodes, and even submit videos of their own to the site.

The community-focused site offers a blog aggregator component, which allows CatholicTV administrators to collect blog content from various websites across the online Catholic community and make that content available to catholictv.com visitors. The site also allows for iTunes integration for podcasts, giving CatholicTV administrators the ability to make specific video content available within the Apple iTunes library.

Additionally, Verndale expanded CatholicTV's online store, optimizing payment processing as well as integrating UPS for real-time calculation of shipping charges. Online viewers can also subscribe to CatholicTV's free monthly magazine, access uploaded broadcast schedules, read featured stories and news, purchase their own copies of audio and video presentations or make a tax deductible contribution to support the work of CatholicTV.
