Actress and Comedian Aisha Tyler Returns to Her Stand-Up Roots in an Edgy, Envelope-Pushing Comedy Special - 'Aisha Tyler is Lit: Live at the Fillmore,' Airing on Comedy Central, Saturday, February 21st at 11 PM

Uncut DVD of the show, with added behind-the-scenes footage, on sale Tuesday, February 24

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Actress Aisha Tyler stars in her first one-hour stand-up comedy special: "Aisha Tyler is Lit: Live at the Fillmore," this Saturday, February 21st at 11 PM on the Comedy Central network. Fresh from a role in Adam Sandler's smash hit "Bedtime Stories," Aisha Tyler has been a viewer favorite since her start as the first female host of E!'s "Talk Soup," in roles on Friends, 24, CSI, and in hit comedy films, such as "Balls of Fury" and Disney's "Santa Clause" series.

Aisha's special was taped in her hometown of San Francisco, at the famed Fillmore Auditorium, which has hosted legendary performers such as Jimi Hendrix, the Who and the Doors. Her show, that plays as much like a rock concert as a conventional stand-up comedy performance, features Aisha ripping into such topics as marriage, sexual positions, Hollywood's obsession with plastic surgery and her own obsession with videogames, in a high-energy rant that keeps the audience on the edge of its seat.

Aisha's comedic voice is smart, raw, edgy and honest. An ivy-league graduate, her material is intelligent and thought-provoking, but also accessible. In "Lit," her voice is also raucous and outrageous. Her fan-base is remarkably broad, appealing equally to women and men, as well as mainstream, urban, young and old audiences alike. Early reviews have been phenomenal, some comparing Aisha to a female Chris Rock. But it is hard to compare Aisha Tyler to other comedians, since nobody else does quite what she does. She is one of the few female headliners with the power, grit and poise to run with the big boys of comedy.

The uncut, uncensored DVD of the special, which goes on sale Tuesday, February 24th, is the maiden production of Aisha's banner company, Hot Machine, and offers an additional 25 minutes of uncut uncensored concert footage, as well as an half-hour behind-the-scenes "making of" featurette. Additionally, the DVD includes the music video "Noassitall," written, performed and directed by Aisha, who sings and raps in a satirical, hilarious Mean Streets homage to her childhood in San Francisco. The video became an immediate Myspace favorite, garnering thousands of hits daily. Teasers, trailers and additional footage from the special are available at her website, www.aishatyler.com.

"Aisha Tyler: Live at the Fillmore," is co-produced by Hot Machine, Image Entertainment and ROAR.
