Warren Haynes to Perform at Washington Life Magazine's Inaugural Weekend Kickoff Party and Mid-Atlantic Inaugural Ball
Prestigious appearances begin a busy spring and summer concert season for the acclaimed guitarist/singer/songwriter with Gov't Mule, the Allman Brothers Band, and the Dead
NEW YORK, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Warren Haynes will be featured at two major inaugural events -- as the sole performer at Washington Life magazine's Inaugural Weekend Kickoff Party and as part of the Dead for the Mid-Atlantic Inaugural Ball.
The Inaugural Weekend Kickoff Party, taking place on Friday, January 16, boasts a guest list that is a who's who of Capital Hill's political elite, including former Clinton Chief of Staff and current Presidential Transition Team head John Podesta, who will be giving the opening remarks, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who will introduce Haynes. Haynes, known worldwide for his work as a founding member of Gov't Mule and his continuing role in the Allman Brothers Band and the Dead, performed at Pelosi's own inauguration in 2007.
Haynes' participation in the inaugural festivities continues on January 20th when he resumes his duties as guitarist and vocalist with the Dead at the Mid-Atlantic Inaugural Ball, which will be attended by President Barack Obama. The Dead will launch an extensive arena tour this spring -- their first tour in five years. For full details and tour itinerary, visit http://www.dead.net/.
Haynes has been ranked by Rolling Stone as the 23rd Greatest Guitarist of All Time and the magazine has recently ranked him among the few top Guitar Gods. Haynes is a Grammy winner and eight time nominee for his work with Gov't Mule and The Allman Brothers Band. He's been called an "American treasure" and a "legend in the making" by his peers.
As lead guitarist, co-lead vocalist, and musical director, Haynes played a major role in the revival and ongoing renaissance of the Allman Brothers Band. The Allman Brothers Band, featuring Haynes, will host a month-long residency at New York City's newly renovated Beacon Theatre this March, followed by the extensive national 40th Anniversary Tour this summer and fall.
Immediately following his inauguration performances, Haynes will record the first new studio album in three years by his versatile quartet Gov't Mule. This will be the first record to feature the quartet's new bassist Jorgen Carlsson. Gov't Mule will perform the following dates this winter, and will embark on a world tour in support of its new album (due mid-June) which will encompass the US, Europe, and Canada between June and August of 2008.
