Update: Trapped Celebrity Releases Unseen Footage of Unity in Obama Inauguration Tunnel Saga on YouTube
Recording Artist, Reality TV. Star, Norwood Young Shares Two Minutes of Riveting Footage in hopes to Assist Government Investigation
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- In the wake of Senator Dianne Feinstein's request for a ticket investigation and for the help of any participants with knowledge of the unfortunate tunnel incident that transpired on January, 20, 2009, Norwood Young releases this compelling video. On the day of President Barack Obama's inauguration, tens of thousands of excited ticket holders were stuck in the 3rd street tunnel (on foot) in excess of four hours beginning at 6:30 am in below freezing temperatures due to inauguration coordination mishaps. "The sheer congestion of people ultimately could have caused chaos and panic, but, quite to the contrary, the overwhelming excitement and enthusiasm for change, tempered the atmosphere," said Norwood Young.
Norwood Young, recording artist, and star of "E" television's "High Maintenance 90210" captured over 60 minutes of this unprecedented, outrageous, harrowing event with his professional camera personnel. Mr. Young, a Los Angeles resident, was taping his inaugural experience for his upcoming reality show, "King of Hancock Park," however, after receiving knowledge of Senator Feinstein's investigation inquiry, Young felt it his duty and decided to immediately release this footage.
The throng of purple ticket holders which included political figures and celebrities, moved very slowly, approximately 30 feet every half hour on their 2 1/2 mile journey. This unique video illustrates the positive gravity of this situation; the numbers of trapped people, the pace of progression and sounds of the people pressed like sardines chanting "fired up and ready to go," and President Obama's famous quote, "yes we can!" The footage shows a peaceful sense of unity amongst strangers and how people kept their morale uplifted. "In times of fear or anxiety, I sing because it calms my mind and spirit. The song 'God Bless America' came to mind, and in that moment, I felt compelled to sing," says Norwood.
When the people exited the tunnel, they still were unable to attain access to the inauguration, preventing them from witnessing this historical event. "Although I was quite disappointed with my 'tunnel experience,' and ultimately missing the inauguration ceremony, the proverbial light at the end of that tunnel is that Barack Obama is President of the Unites States of America, and in that light there is no disappointment," states Norwood Young.
