Crossroads Charlotte Announces Movie Premiere Event at Six Locations on February 3, 2009

Event is free and open to the public

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Crossroads Charlotte, a major community initiative that offers four plausible stories about Charlotte's future to the community for response and action, has announced that it will premiere a film based on the four Crossroads stories on Tuesday, February 3 at six locations across the Charlotte area.

The premiere event is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. EST (doors open at 5:30 p.m.) at six locations, including: Ballentyne Village Theatre, the Charlotte Museum of History, Davidson College, Epicentre Theaters, Johnson C. Smith University and UNC Charlotte. Go to www.crossroadscharlotte.org/moviepremiere to RSVP to attend this FREE event.

The Charlotte Museum of History location will screen the movie with sub-titles in Spanish.

The film, entitled "Crossroads Charlotte: The Movie" is a cinematic version of the four Crossroads stories, each depicting a possible future for the Charlotte community in the year 2015. The four stories represent a range of futures, from the very bleak Fortress Charlotte to the optimistic and progressive Eye to Eye.

"The arts have been key to Crossroads Charlotte since its beginning, and the film offers yet another way for people and organizations to experience four possible futures for Charlotte and to inspire them to do what they can do to help steer our community towards a positive future and away from a negative one," says Crossroads Charlotte Executive Director Patricia Zoder. The movie premiere will be immediately followed by an opportunity for facilitated discussion among audience members.

The film features local actors and locations and was produced utilizing volunteered resources from dozens of community organizations and resources. Production of "Crossroads Charlotte: The Movie" began in early 2008 as a joint project of locally-based Russ Communications and Emulsion Arts.

Major funding for Crossroads Charlotte is provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Strategic leadership for Crossroads Charlotte is provided by Foundation For The Carolinas, with community organizing and programming by Community Building Initiative.
