Ella Fitzgerald's Pianist, Art Hillery, Belmont Violinist Kristina Siemer & Vanderbilt Pianist Leah Bowes Unite for Jazz Meets Classical Holiday Benefit Supporting Foster Kids
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Belmont Graduate and Violinist, Kristina Siemer, and Vanderbilt Pianist, Leah Bowes team up with Ella Fitzgerald's Pianist, Art Hillery in a holiday musical performance that will serve as a fundraiser for foster children in the city of Nashville this holiday season.
Siemer, a member of the Nashville String Machine, will be featured in a major Classical Violin performance of the most gorgeous music in the Classical Violin Repertoire accompanied by Pianist, Leah Bowes. Siemer is a Double Master in Music at Belmont University, and has performed for the Queen of England, the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace and for the Crown Prince of Spain at St. James Palace.
Leah Bowes is a member of Vanderbilt's Blair String Quartet featuring members of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Siemer and Bowes are both regulars on NPR'S 90.3 FM "LIVE IN STUDIO C" program.
On the jazz side, Ella Fitzgerald's Pianist, Art Hillery visits Nashville with his ALL STAR JAZZ GROUP performing the music of the Jazz Divas, Barbra Streisand and Billie Holiday, with their collective resumes include such jazz luminaries as Ella Fitzgerald, Eddie Harris, Stanley Turrentine, Dexter Gordon, and Wes Montgomery.
ART HILLERY has had a long recording and performing career, with recording credits including Ella Fitzgerald, Milt Jackson, Sonny Stitt, Red Holloway, Harry "Sweets" Edison, and many others. He has also performed with, among others, Dexter Gordon, Blue Mitchell, Art Farmer, and Teddy Edwards. His ensemble includes DONALD DEAN on drums and LOUIS SPEARS on bass. A native of New Orleans, Mr. Hillery began his career as a concert pianist, but cites the legendary Oscar Peterson as his inspiration for turning to jazz.
