UGO Entertainment, in Association With Vivendi Entertainment and Downtown Independent Presents Boll Film Fest, Los Angeles World Premiere of 1968: TunnelRats
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Nov. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Infamous director Uwe Boll's films will be celebrated in a week-long festival in LA's Downtown Independent Theater. Presented by UGO Entertainment, the festival will feature a marathon engagement of all of Boll's films and culminate with a world premiere of Boll's latest directorial venture, 1968: TunnelRats.
Uwe Boll has been loved and hated by his fans all at once and became a press magnet when he declared war on his critics by inviting them to the boxing ring after they unanimously bashed his then latest theatrical release, BloodRayne. 2008's release of Postal brought him massive mainstream media attention with the New York Times and Los Angeles Times profiling the film and the man behind it. He toured with the film to key festivals including Comic-Con and Philly Comic-Con and he was also profiled on a CNN's featurette on movies spoofing the war. Postal has since become a cult favorite on DVD.
1968: TunnelRats is set during the Vietnam War and follows a special US combat unit trapped underground in labyrinthine, booby-trapped tunnels the Viet Cong deployed. Boll's latest is a departure from his traditional videogame adaptation -- instead, Boll has created a videogame of the same name from this latest movie. Marking a 40 year anniversary of a watershed period in American history, Boll's new film does not take point of view about U.S. involvement in the war and instead presents a starkly realistic portrayal of war.
Dylan Reynolds, head of Downtown Independent, adds: "Creating a festival that hails a man who loves movies and has spent 20 years making them is an apt tribute. I am thrilled that my venue can promote this man and his legend. I am a huge fan and I am honored to present the world premiere of 1968: TunnelRats at our venue."
"One Uwe Boll film is never enough," said Jordan Hoffman, UGO.com Movies Editor. "Join UGO.com and celebrate the collected works of this seldom understood polymathmatic renaissance artist at the Uwe Boll Film Festival."
Uwe Boll added: "I am excited about TunnelRats -- this movie, unlike my other films, will find an audience beyond the core videogame, horror, action fan. In the private screenings I held for veterans, I found that they loved the movie."
Soumya Sriraman, SVP Marketing for Vivendi continued: "Uwe Boll's films have always found huge audiences on DVD -- and we are excited to continue building ground swell for his films. Having Uwe and his regular actors including Kristanna Loken and Michael Pare at this festival is a great bonus for his fans!"
