NEW YORK, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- WE've got the power! WE tv's WE VOTE '08 empowers women across America to register to vote as deadlines rapidly approach. In the last election over 35 million women did not vote, and with such hot topics on the table such as the economic recession, the war in Iraq, healthcare, a woman's right to choose, why should women let someone else speak for them? The women's vote is more important than ever! Voter registration deadlines vary for each state, with the first beginning October 4 (see deadlines on last page of release). Go to www.WEVote08.com for your state's deadlines and registration forms.

"Women have the potential for a strong voice in the 2008 election," stated Kim Martin, President and General Manager WE tv. "Last year, over 35 million women did not vote and we can't let that happen again. WE Vote '08 wants to galvanize women across the country to register to vote en masse and exercise their power."

WE VOTE '08 is an unprecedented national grassroots initiative looking to register women to vote in preparation for the 2008 election, educating them on important key issues of interest to them, and galvanizing women to get to the polls on November 4. The multi-tiered campaign is co-chaired by 1984 Vice Presidential Nominee Geraldine Ferraro(D) and former U.S. House of Representative Susan Molinari(R) and brings together a historic group of non-profit, non-partisan organizations, including Women's Voices; Women Vote; America's Promise Alliance; Women's Campaign Forum, The League of Women Voters and The Creative Coalition, in addition to cable organizations such as NCTA, WICT, ACC and NAMIC.

Geraldine Ferraro, National Co-Chair (and first female Vice-Presidential candidate for a national party ticket), notes, "WE Vote '08 is non-partisan, supporting no other cause than to get ALL women involved in the political process. As women, we need to let our opinions be heard, or else someone else will speak for us. I hope to see record numbers of women voting this year! But first, everyone has to register."

National Co-Chair, Susan Molinari says, "Whether you are a Republican, Democrat, or Independent, 2008 is the most important year for women to vote. WE VOTE '08's mission to increase women's voter registration will help to elect the right President for the women of the United States."
