ViewCast Unveils Niagara Pro II, the Next Generation of its Acclaimed Professional Streaming Encoder
Offers Most Powerful Processing in Niagara Appliance Line for Webcasting, Mobile and Internet TV
PLANO, Texas, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ViewCast Corporation (BULLETIN BOARD: VCST) , a leading global provider of streaming media hardware and software, today announced the release of its next-generation streaming media encoder, the Niagara(R) Pro II.
The Niagara Pro II is the newest in the line of Niagara encoders, which are utilized by many of the world's leading broadcasters for high-quality, high-resolution video capture and streaming. This professional-grade encoding appliance has the most powerful processing of all Niagara encoding appliances and offers an array of innovative features designed to meet the rapidly expanding online video needs of broadcasters/studios, enterprises and Internet/network service providers.
As with all Niagara encoders, Niagara Pro II excels at capturing, encoding and streaming video and audio over the Internet and mobile networks for live viewing and video-on-demand applications. To meet the challenges of streaming globally to multi-platform audiences, the Niagara Pro II comes standard with ViewCast's exclusive Simulstream(R) and Niagara SCX(R) Pro control and management software; both pre-configured and ready to use. These applications allow users to manage their streaming workflow from a single, user-friendly Web interface and enable a single video source to be streamed simultaneously at multiple resolutions, at multiple data rates, and in a variety of streaming formats, including H.264, MPEG-4, Adobe(R) Flash(R), Windows Media(R) (Silverlight(TM) compatible) and 3GPP/3GPP2 for mobile applications.
Complete with professional-grade features to simplify workflow, the Niagara Pro II can crop, scale and de-interlace video streams, and includes standard definition SDI video, bitmap overlay and closed-captioning features. Its 19" rack-mount form-factor includes a built-in front-panel video confidence monitor, LCD status display, and three programmable "A-B-C" buttons that can activate one-touch, pre-programmed encoding and streaming profiles.
ViewCast Chief Executive Dave Stoner commented: "Today's broadcasters, studios and other service providers are looking for every competitive advantage, and one advantage is being able to encode and stream robust, high-quality video efficiently and in the most easy-to-use manner possible. The Pro II was designed to meet the needs of the higher-end market, and as a result, no other media encoder offers such intuitive features, convenience and high degree of flexibility along with high levels of performance suitable for Internet TV applications.
"As the market for streaming hardware grows, and demand for even higher performance continues, we intend to stay ahead of the curve through continuing research and product development," Stoner added. "This long-term commitment will enable the continual introduction of leading-edge capabilities through our well-established Niagara and Osprey brands and planned expansion of market share during the next several years, especially as the market moves to larger and more sophisticated applications for video streaming."
